"THE AUTOMATON" !

BEGINNING IN 1946, and continuing off-and-on through 1954, there were FOUR different Series of "THE HALL OF FANTASY".

ALL were created, produced, and written by Richard Thorne, a broadcasting professional who took the Series with him when he moved from Utah, to Chicago.  He revamped it, revived it, and, in 1952 it was given a new life on the Mutual Network.

Many of the early shows dealt with murder & mayhem...as was the case with many programs in those days. But, with his Mutual version, the show focused more on Supernatural, and Science Fiction plots and those are the ones it's most remembered for.

This program "The Automaton" first aired on July 27, 1953, and deals with Science Fiction at its best:  A scientist/inventor creating a Robot in order to try and help mankind.   Of course, as we all know, sometimes even the best of intentions - AND, Inventions - just don't work out like they're planned !
